What is Mariah's Challenge?
In honor of Mariah Daye McCarthy, of Butte, MT who was tragically killed October 28, 2007 by an underage driver who had been drinking, students across the State are asked to "Accept Mariah's Challenge" and apply peer to peer pressure to others to do the same. This grassroots organization founded by Mariah's father, Leo McCarthy is threefold:
- To educate teens about the dangers of drinking and to challenge them to be MIP free.
- To help educate parents about the dangers and signs of teen alcohol abuse
- To foster a culture change in Montana that has a long history of tolerance for alcohol abuse
